Upbringing

Each session was treated less like a shoot and more like a quiet presence in the room, following the last weeks of pregnancy into the raw and luminous early days of new life. The work focused on what actually happens when no one is performing, a woman resting with her belly catching window light, a couple laughing in a kitchen doorway, a toddler making a break for the back door in afternoon sun. Both film and digital were used across sessions, because the grain and warmth of film holds tenderness in a way that felt right for this subject, while digital could follow faster when a moment moved too quickly to wait. The process drew from available light, close proximity, and the willingness to stay patient until something real surfaced.
